Walkin!

After reading Rusty Sumrall's post mentioning the "run like you stole something!" from a spectator/roadside encourager - I am wondering what percentage of Chicago participants do intervals? What percentage of people walk the whole thing? What percentage of people actually run the entire way?

Definitely a new experience, crowd remarks and possibly active participation. I guess I am a bit self-conscious, still, at age 46 almost 47.

Because, it might be that I will be WALKING like I stole something.

You will see sooooo many different types, styles, sizes, shapes and ages of runners/walkers, you just won't believe it. If you end up walking all of it, you will NOT be alone!

I'm so glad to hear that I may not be the only one "walking like I stole something." Randy told us we should look straight ahead, not down, when we walk/run, but I'll probably be looking and listening to all the spectators. LOL! I can hardly wait!!

it is YOUR race....no one else's...
and if you want to run it..jump it....walk it or crawl...you will have DONE it...most people can't say that they have even tried to do it!

There were lots of people walking and lots of people doing intervals. I stayed all the way on the right side of the course (next to most of the spectators) for the whole marathon because I wanted the full experience. So, I definitely encoutered more interaction than most probably would.
I hope my experience didn't make you worry, you will do fine. Any comments that I got from spectators were positive. I honestly believe that if I had not stayed so close to the crowd, I would have "blended in" more and nobody would have noticed me stopping/starting my run. Also, when I do intervals, I don't really jog, I try to run pretty fast, so when I stop to walk, it probably looks alot like someone who is tired and has to take a walk break to catch their breath.
Hope this helps.
